Now lets take a look to the past, Best Friends day 5, I didn’t actually make it out to any events, but I did make a Best Friend.

She asked me if I was going and if I would be her best friend. I said yes and for the next month leading up to BFD 5 we would hold hands and walk up to people at parties introducing each other as “This is my Best Friend.” In those days there was a party every day and in the same style of “those days” we both totally flaked out and didn’t even go to BFD.

Then there was BFD 6 which was the only time I ever participated in the Scavenger Hunt and it was by far the highlight of the whole dang thing. Except for the part when my future husband lost his wallet and we’d been all over the dang city so who knew where it was and we had to stop scavenger hunting to find the dang thing, which if I remember correctly was in his messenger bag the whole time. But we Bonded and perhaps it was some of that good old fashioned BFD bonding that turned him from boyfriend into husband.

AKA My priceless Memories

By BFD 7 We were married and I was going Through my Hair Styling Phase. I was apprenticing at a salon and worked everyday of BFD, cursing the world every second and then being too tired when I got off to be much fun. I did make it out to a show or something but I barely remember it and I was super bummed about missing Hadads. I never did finish that apprenticeship, I had to get out before it killed my soul. There’s nothing like a bad hair salon to get you down and destroy such wonderful things as Best Friends Day. Especially when all your Best Friends are at Best Friends Day while you’re stuck in the West End.

And now I’m on the cusp, we all are, of BFD 9. Not only am I sick in bed with a horrible cold, but I am working another job I hate. I put in for time off and got all the days except for Saturday. My favorite day. I’ll be working 9-2. I’ll be late but I’ll be at Hadads.

I’m looking forward to Best Friends.

I can’t help but feel that this years BFD is going to be some kind of Cap Stone for me. I’ve graduated from VCU and I feel like I’ve graduated from Richmond. I could be moving on at any time.
